About Teaching & Education work in Gauteng
SACE registration is required for any post in a South African public school, and the provincial departments advertise in cycles rather than as vacancies arise. Independent schools run to their own calendar and typically recruit a term ahead. The most common reason strong candidates never hear back is procedural: public-sector applications go to the district office, not to the school. A CV sent directly to a principal usually never reaches the shortlisting process at all.
Gauteng is the country’s employment engine. Johannesburg — particularly Sandton, Rosebank and Midrand — carries finance, technology and corporate head offices; Pretoria is the government and public sector centre; Ekurhuleni holds manufacturing and logistics. Weigh the commute carefully, because it is the real cost of a Gauteng offer.
