Education vacancies include Foundation Phase, Intermediate Phase, Senior Phase and FET school teachers, early childhood development practitioners, lecturers and facilitators at TVET colleges and universities, private tutors, and education support and administrative staff. Anyone teaching in a South African school must be registered with SACE, and a recognised teaching qualification such as a BEd or a PGCE is the standard route in. Public school posts are advertised provincially with their own application forms and closing dates, while private schools, independent colleges and ECD centres recruit directly and year-round, which makes them a useful parallel track. Subject scarcity matters enormously: maths, physical science, English and African-language teaching posts are typically far easier to secure than oversubscribed subjects. Additional skills such as computer literacy, sports coaching, or experience with inclusive education and remedial support make a candidate noticeably more employable, and most schools ask for a police clearance certificate.
